Petersburg Campground COE

Friday, April 22 2011  We left Stephen Foster this morning heading North on US41 to 129 to 221 stopped at Town Bluff RV Park in Hazlehurst but didn't stay, we pressed on to Petersburg.  We got the the last campsite #38, and Sunday we will move to site 21 for 6 days. I can't believe how little traffic there has been of these roads, it has been a pleasure driving.

Saturday, April 23 2011  Today I was looking to see how I am going to get out of this site, it has me a little concerned.  We got in a few walks today, I also rode on one of the nicest trails, hope to explore more of it tomorrow after we move to site 75 a straight back in.  Another exciting moment the low fuel warning came on as we were getting close to here yesterday, so planed to get fuel today.  Wal-Mart is about 10 miles in Evans on the way at the 4way stop there was a station and it was $4.07 turned left holding out for cheaper fuel at Wal-Mart $3.97.   Started up a hill and the truck started sputtering, I made a quick U-turn a  back to the station I had passed and into a the diesel pump before it quit.

Wednesday, April 27 2011 Went to Walmart yesterday filled up the truck 100.00 bucks and it was about half full when I started.  Been riding my bike on the Bartrum Trail from the campground.
Sites 24, 23, 5, 6, 7 look like some of the better sites.

Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park

April 19 2011, Tuesday   Got everything closed up and left this morning around 9:00 am, traveled 491 to 41 to White Springs, a pleasant 130 mile drive.
We are staying in site 23 which we have used before, think next time I might try site 19 a nice pull thru with more shade.
Scoped out a new restaurant I hope to try named "Fat Belly's" looks promising.

Wednesday, April 20 2011  Went for our walk this morning, then I went for a bike ride there are miles of good double track, hard packed with very little loose sand.
We ate lunch at Fat Belly's Bar & Grill this could by new favorite place.

Thursday, April 21 2011  We went for a walk this morning a little over 5 miles, thought we had walked at least 7 miles on the Florida Trail along the Suwannee.
Jim & Joanne came to visit so we went to Fat Belly's for lunch, prior to going I had Jim & Joanne worried though, I compared it to Carols one of my famous picks from North Carolina. But in the end they thought it was much much better.  The place was packed at 12:05 and about 12:50 we were the only table left. (working folks around here).
Tomorrow morning we leave for another long 130 mile ride to Town Bluff RV Park, Hazlehurst, Ga.

Down by the River Campground, Pineola, NC

We arrived around 5:00 pm after an unusual long day for us, 420 miles and about 8 hours.
Saturday, May 8   Went fishing this morning at Wilson Creek, I caught 1 trout Zack caught 16. It has been sunny with a high of 64 and a  prediction of lows in the 30's this evening and windy.
Tuesday, May 11  Spent the morning at the Ford place in Boone the check engine light has been on (sticky turbo veins) which could be attributed to driving like an old person.  Then this afternoon I mastered the fine art of restringing pleated day/night RV blinds and for 100 dollars apiece I could restring yours.
Sunday, May 16 Chris is on vacation this week so we have gone for a few good bicycle rides, from Down by the River to Linville Falls and the Todd Railroad Grade Road.
June 09, Wednesday  I just had to get this in here, the new theme song for Down by the River cover dish dinners.

July 17, Saturday  Bob and MelC left today, probable the best couple they have had to manage the park or will have again.  The park looks better now than it has ever looked since we have been coming here.
July 19, Monday  We drove from Pineola to Damascus, VA (55 miles, 1hr 22min) to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail.

Corinth Recreation Area, Double Springs, AL

Corinth Recreation Area, Double Springs, AL
When we left Demopolis, AL this morning on 43, north to 20, bypass around the west side of Tuscaloosa and back on 43 to 13 to 278 to county road 57, great roads.
Saturday, May 1 On my bike ride around the campground I met Eddie who lives outside the campground, down the road and around the corner, so had someone to ride with which made for a good ride.
Went to town for fuel, few grocery, auto parts, and eat lunch, we ate lunch at the Double Springs Cafe  (where everything is good) and lots of local character also.
Sunday, May 2 It has been cloudy all morning, started raining after noon, front passing thru
Monday, May 3 Today was a beautiful day to be outside and enjoying it.

Foscoe COE, Demopolis, AL

Foscoe COE Demopolis, AL 2010

We arrived around noon, great roads from Citronelle to here 96 to 43 to 80 to Demopolis.  I passed some of the Tampa Bay buzzards migrating North, so we aren't to far behind.
There are quite a few trees damaged by the high winds that passed thru here yesterday.
The original fork in the road
Tuesday, April 27  The challenge is on to find the Fork in the Road.

John & Sue
We can't believe that the two of you would try to decieve us!  We want positive proof such as a $100 bill laying beside the fork in the road when you take the picture.
I guess anyone who would try to trick us into listening to a GAY book would be capable of such a deed!
Buddy & Patsy

The Fork in the Road
After 3 days of searching every road in the campground and 1 clue, we found the fork in the road.

We ate lunch at Smokin Jack's BBQ, I had Catfish, butter beans, turnip greens, hushpuppys, & good water.  I would give it 5 stars, could be the best catfish I have ever eaten.

Lakeview RV Park, Citronelle, AL

Lakeview RV Park, Citronelle, AL

Called Mike when we were close to his house in Citronelle and he lead us to the campground, because of the work on the dam for the lake we had to go in the back way.
Nice site new cement slab, 50 amp, sewer, water, it has it all except for water in the lake.
Saturday, April 24  Around 3:00 am Sue's weather radio went off & shortly after the hail started, it sounded like golf ball size in the RV but was probable pea size.
We ate lunch at the Sugar Creek Catfish House in Citronelle and I would give it a numbers of stars, as a mater of fact I haven't eaten at a better catfish place.

Eastbank COE

Eastbank COE 2010

We arrived here at Eastbank campground before noon, and got set up, Sue has been on ant patrol.
Went for a bike ride made a loop from the campground thru Chattahoochee and back.
The campground is the fullest I have seen it in the number of times that we have been here.
Would you believe, Butthead's BBQ & Grill in downtown Chattahoochee, FL is open for lunch Tue- Fri and Fri evenings only and we will be here Sat., Sun., Mon only.  And it looks like my kind of place, how disappointing.

From Eastbank COE 2010

Sunday, April 18  Went for 1 1/2 hour walk this morning.   They have planted hundreds of Dogwoods in this campground and they all look as healthy like the one in the picture.  The Spring should really be pretty here in a few years.  It seems to me that I have notice more public projects than in the past years city park improvements, road projects, tree plantings, some campground expansion & refer bushing,  etc. Went for a couple of nice bike rides, there are a few hills that I have to use my lowest gear.

Monday, April 19 Went for our morning walk, at noon we went downtown Chattahoochee to Jerry's for buffet lunch & fuel.

Suwannee River Hideaway

Suwannee River Hideaway 2010
Left home this morning after our walk and arrived at Suwannee River Hideaway and it was still morning. We ate lunch then went for a bicycle ride on the Nature Coast Bike Trail, no hills here.
Friday, April 16  Rode the bike trail again today, and went to Wal Mart.
Saturday, April 17  When I was preparing for a quite early morning departure (daylight) and storing stuff, hose, electrical etc. I leaned against my key thingamajig and set off the truck alarm, it took me a few minutes to figure out who did it.  I'll bet it didn't take the sleeping neighbors long to figure out who did it.
